Al “The Bishop” Hobbs is simply one of the most interesting personalities you’re likely to ever cross paths with in this industry. We are saddened that Hobbs passed at the age of 70 on Thursday, July 31, 2014, after a battle with cancer for the past three years. Hobbs earned the title of ‘Bishop’ with an empire to accompany it.

Hobbs was loved by all as a veteran gospel music broadcaster, record label executive, artist, songwriter and pioneer. Al Hobbs served on the Board of Directors of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) and the Gospel Announcer’s Guild (GAG), was Vice President and General Manager of WTLC radio in Indianapolis, as well as the Vice President of Marketing and PR for the Indiana Black Expo.  Hobbs hailed from Decatur, Alabama and is the father of Alex Carrington Hobbs, Asha Gabrellia Hobbs, and Bridgett Hobbs.

The newest judge on BET’s 7th season of “Sunday Best” gets personal on GRACELAND and shares her ongoing inner battle between self-conviction and condemnation. Gail Mitchell from Billboard states, “Sheard’s triumph over turmoil ultimately triggered what is arguably her best and most versatile work to date. GRACELAND brims with self-introspection and lessons learned as a fearless Sheard bares her soul and shares a revelatory, yet joyous journey that everyone can personally embrace.” Kierra collaborated for the first time with celebrated pop songwriter Diane Warren (Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Céline Dion) and rising songwriter/producer Harmony Samuels (Ariana Grande, Fantasia, Michelle Williams).
